August in Soppa

By dmwc

We’re already halfway through summer, which could be said to be August 15th. Now we’re heading into September, the prelude to autumn. In the city of eternal spring, the trade winds change from September onwards, and the summer heat disappears, leaving clear, sunny days that, although less hot than the August sun in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, begin the hottest months, at least until the end of November. For me, since I wasn’t born here, this is when I feel the strangest, as if my body is waiting or craving a bit of cold, but it’s the other way around; it’s when it’s hottest.

In August, Soppa has a lot of people on vacation or visiting their countries, visiting family and friends. However, new people always come, not many, but they help us cope with our difficult economic situation and also help us think with a positive mindset so we can look forward with hope. Not having a vacation doesn’t help much, although no one can take away our daily swim.

Thank you, Ronja, Patrick, Matteo, Daute, Sandra, Nina, Marta, Jens, John, Juanmi, Nicola and Nikolaj, Ercole, Jamie, Julie, and of course, Konstantin… Josef, to those who came for a video call like Ayoze… to Path, to the artists in the crazy basement, Rocco, Paola, Alby, Julio, Francesco, Thomas… to those who bought a print, brought their daughters to paint, and those who came to draw with a model. Thank you all, thank you, thank you.
